flying "home"

Hey everyone! Ronnie and I will be in Miami this Friday, April 4th until Wednesday, April 9. My mother-in-law is having another surgery, so Ronnie wants to be there for her before she has to go in. We'd love to try to see everyone. And we have to make plans to go to our favorite, Nunzio's. Not sure what our transportation situation will be, yet. We will be flying into Ft.Lauderdale late Friday night. I will keep you posted.

hair trouble

It's been more than 6 months since I last cut my hair. The reason is because I wanted to let it get longer for the wedding. And now I am paying for it! With my curls, I usually cut it every 4-6 weeks. My curls are so "blah" right now. My father even said "you need to cut it...you look disorganized"! LOL And that is exactly how I feel! I've always had it long until about 3 years ago when I pulled a Kerri Russel. (Remember when Felicity chopped off her beautiful curls...everyone was like "how dare she?!") Yeah many felt the same about my curls. But I LOVED it. Little by little I began to cut it shorter and shorter. I didn't just chop it off all at once. Here is a little timeline of my hairstyles.

High school graduation, which was probably at my longest:

This was about my sophomore year in college, a little long, but most much shorter:

Then I wanted bangs....but really, they were like a shorter front layer:

I got sick of the bang, so I let it grow out:

And then I finally did it....I CHOPPED IT OFF...OH THE HORROR! HA! I LOVED IT!!

But, I felt liberated! Seriously...it was a nice change. I felt a little more mature. And it was just time to get it healthy again.

Now, the curls are so bad, that I've been blow drying it straight so that I could do more with it. And it's a lot of work. Now with it longer, it takes FOREVER to blow dry it straight and I just don't have the time for it. Yes, it is nice because of the weather here. But I love my curls and they are fun to have when I have them maintained! LOL Here is my hair straight for Christmas:

Anyways, I have found the new cut I plan to get. It's a good length. Not too short (Ronnie hates it short) and it's not too long. I think it will be a happy medium. This is the actress named Sarah Jones. I will get the short layer again. I hope to get it next week when I am in Miami. Yep. We'll be in Miami on April 4th. But that's a whole other blog post. I will post about that later. Tell me what you think:

Our Very Own F.R.I.E.N.D.S episode

The sofa got delivered! And this time the movers were a little smarter and more helpful. Well....sorta! They came in the house and I explained our "narrow staircase" situation. But they were very positive and promised they would try. And they did. And they were unsuccessful. But they gave us the suggestion of removing the staircase banister and promised if we did that, it would go up perfectly! We decided on calling a carpenter. But with no luck, Ronnie got home and was determined to remove the banister himself! I know...you are probably thinking to yourself "Ronnie do carpenter work?! What?" Listen to me when I say, he's become quite handy after owning his own home people!!! But I still recommended asking our friends here, Marty and Margie, to come over and help. Marty is quite the handy guy. He knows what he's doing! So, Ronnie agreed and I bribed them for their help by ordering them a pizza for dinner...and it worked! HAHA Boy...I am sure if they knew what this job entailed maybe $100 wouldn't even sound good. They would totally re-think the situation. LOL

So, the night begins after dinner. Ronnie was determined to get this job done. I mean, look at where our sofa was laying!

Then the destruction began. Look! He did it all by himself!

Then our friends came over to help out. Here is Marty helping Ronnie take off the other banister!

Then the hardest part....getting this 1000 pound sofa up the stairs! I tried to help after this picture was taken. Luckily, our awesome neighbors were walking by and they offered to help, too. After several breaks, they pulled and squeezed the sofa up. Yay!

Our bonus room has furniture...yay! We still need to put together 2 side tables. But we were exhausted last night. So, we'll do that this evening. Ronnie picked out the pillows. I forgot to take a picture of the pull out bed. I will take some more later tonight. We are so happy about it.....doesn't it look great?!

And if this adventure did not look funny enough, I will leave you with a very similar F.R.I.E.N.D.S scene. Unfortunately, the "pivot" technique did not work for us either! :)

countdown: 6 days....

Just 6 more days! Until the family comes, that is...and we are very excited! I've already begun washing the towels, linens, etc. for their stay, as well as cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming and stuff. This weekend I will buy the pancake mix and cake mix to make Nicholas his cupcakes and pancakes. I will do anything for that kid. What can I say? I am the best big sister! :)

I have bad news about our sleeper sofa I was so excited to buy. They came to deliver yesterday. All I mentioned to them was to please keep the plastic on the furniture so that it wouldn't leave marks on the walls. (This happened before.) Well, I was by myself when they came. And I had a feeling something like this would happen, because I am not very demanding and I can easily get taken advantage of. They brought out the furniture, saw the narrow staircase, and they were convinced it wouldn't fit! They kept insisting they would make several holes in the walls if they tried. Well, I panic and I call Ronnie at work. And, of course, with my luck, he's in a meeting! I ask the guys if they could come another day when he is there. They said yes. Well, I told Ronnie what happened and he was furious because he knows it can get up there being patient and SMART about it by using a measuring tape and angling it certain ways. To make a long story short, Ronnie called and called and called....spoke to probably 5 people yesterday. He finally got a hold of the store manager and he told us he would get the "driver manager" back to us. We get the call today and they say "Sorry, we lost the furniture and we can't locate it." HUH? WHAT? HOW? Soooo FRUSTRATING! Ronnie and I are going to the store tomorrow to get to the bottom of this. This is not acceptable!

So, for now, we are hoping the sofa to be found. If not, we have to buy another aero mattress, so everyone can be comfortable. I am sure everything will get worked out. But I was really looking forward to having the furniture. *sigh*

****UPDATE: They "found" the furniture. And it's being delivered Monday.****

enough is enough!

Well, 10 lbs later....."my" honeymoon is officially over. For 3 months I have been eating everything I want, when I want. And I am 10 lbs heavier to prove it. Enough is enough and it's time to eat better and lighter. I am on a mission to lose 15 lbs. When I lose those I want to lose about 5 more. Spring is coming and I will be able to walk 30 minutes every day. Plus, I want to shop for cute spring clothes. :-) I will not shop for clothes at the weight I am now. I already shopped for the right foods, like chicken, broccoli, carrots, bananas, tangerines, turkey, 100% wheat bread, etc. I am not on any "diet". Just eating better and less. And drinking tons of water. I hope I can lose, at least, 3 lbs by next Monday. ah! Wish me luck! I will keep you posted on my progress.
