Weekend in the Mountains

Last Friday, Ronnie gave me a call in the morning and surprisingly asked me "Do you want to go to the mountains this weekend?". Of course, I said "yes!" and he took a half day to head there in the afternoon to arrive around dinner time. We've been talking a lot lately about going, but we've been so busy we haven't had the chance. Ronnie's family has a mountain home and his grandparent's were there. So, he thought it would be a good time to see them, too, since it's been a few months since our move from NC to GA.

We really enjoyed the cool air and it was strange visiting a place we called home. Actually, it felt really good to be back and we soaked up the cool mountain air and appreciated the things we love about living in NC.

I took some random "NC" things during our weekend and I hope you enjoy taking a peek at what we did and saw.

This was taken on our drive to NC. This is one of the things we first saw. The sky was really blue and clear. It was a beautiful NC day. When I see old rustic barns like this, I totally think NC. We had several of these around our town.

We saw the Grandfather Mountain sign as we were getting closer to the house. Who knows how many times we've been to it and crossed the mile high bridge? We didn't this time. But it really is an amazing place. It's also where my BFF got engaged!

One of my favorite places to visit is Beech Mountain and their little general store called "Fred's". I have to eat at their small diner at least once when I am there. And I love their sweet tea! (a must have drink in NC)

How cute are Ronnie's grandparents? He's so blessed to still have them in his life.

Of course, we had to pick up some jars of the taste of nc. We bought some pumpkin butter and honey.

Finally, here is a picture of us on the final day. Saturday was very gloomy, but Sunday it was clear and beautiful. We had a really nice time!

Happy 55th Anniversary, Disneyland!

our first 4th BBQ!

Our 4th of July was so much fun! I've been planning it for months, since our best friends Jackie and Lino were going to be in town. We baked, cooked, and BBQ'ed. We had Ronnie's ribs, hot dogs, cole slaw, rosemary potatoes, corn, salad, baked beans, patriotic cupcakes and patriotic fruit kabobs. Total FEAST. Everyone was so hungry, that I forgot to take pics of the food! It was a lot of work, but in the end it was worth it. Here is our 4th in pictures!

Jackie's Fantasy Bridal Shower

My BFF Jackie is getting married in January 2010 in Walt Disney World! You can imagine how excited this makes me. I love weddings and I love everything Disney and I love my best friend's Jackie and Lino....PERFECT COMBINATION! We held her Bridal Shower this past weekend. I am the Bridesmaid and I had the honor to help with and plan to throw her bridal shower. The inspiration? Alice in Wonderland! The cake was made by the fabulous Cake Up Artists Nicky Negrin

My 28th Birthday!

I turned 28 on October 17. We didn't really have much planned to celebrate my birthday. Like I said in an earlier post, the weather in NC in October was rather dreary for the most part. But the hubby suggested we head to Asheville for the day. And I couldn't pass that up because I've always wanted to visit the Biltmore House! The house was breathtaking and the leaves were almost all fully turned. Just beautiful scenery, even though it was really cold! I really enjoyed my birthday to the fullest!

dear blogging, how i've missed you!

My fellow blog readers,

I apologize for neglecting you! It has been a stressful and busy past 3 weeks. Back to school madness! And on the weekends, we've been cleaning or just resting. So, not much has gone on. But I am hoping things slow down a bit soon, so that I can plan and think about the exciting months ahead. Within the next 6 months:

-I turn 28! ah!

-My pa's 50th birthday in Miami! BIG FAMILY PARTY!

-Ronnie's best friend's Lino's Bachelor party in Miami in October.

-Ronnie turns 30 in November!!!! The BIG 3-0!

-Our 2 Year Wedding Anniversary! Where does the time go!

-Then, the holidays, of course. We are thinking of doing Miami for Thanksgiving.

-My best friends Jackie's bridal shower in November in Miami.

-Then Jackie and Lino's wedding in Walt Disney World in January!

-And last but not least my best friend's Janelle's bridal shower and wedding in February!

Whoa! Told you there would be excitement within the following months! We are looking forward to everything. There is also A LOT of changes that might be happening in our lives, but I am not ready to reveal what they are. Good changes, but non the less, difficult decisions to be made. We are excited for whatever our future holds. But the "waiting to see" part is very hard.

I will keep you posted on the latest happenings.

California Dreamin Club 33

What can I say about Club 33 that isn't AMAZING? It was a "dream come true" in more ways than one. Truly! Everything was memorable. Even when we stumbled a little getting to our reservation on time. We encountered major traffic re-entering the park after we got dressed up. We arrived to our reservation about 10 min late. And we were panicking all the way there because they did say that they could revoke our reservation if we were to be late. Ah! You have never seen us run and panic so much. But we made it. Thank goodness! Walt Disney added so many of his touches to this place that I could feel his magic. There is something magical and inspirational when you go to anything Disney that it is really hard to explain. You just really have to experience it to get the overall "magical" experience. There isn't anything else like it. Club 33 is a very, special, magical place. Walt Disney never got the chance to see it opened. He died 5 months before it did. But that doesn't matter. It did feel like he was there. And enjoys it everyday!

California Dreamin' Day 1

And we're back! We had such a GREAT time in California. It was more than I expected. And I thought it was too short! Boo! But isn't that how most vacations tend to be? Ah, but I can't take for granted of what an amazing time we had. I am sorry it has taken me a while to post about it, but I've been trying to catch up with myself with the settling back in. (laundry, organizing) And I am still not finished. So, I've decided I must post in parts. So I will start with our first day, which was DISNEYLAND!

Omg, I was such a giddy little girl. (which isn't surprising if you know me!) But honestly, I was so anxious to get there that I woke up at 5:00am! We got our rental car really early and then headed to Disneyland, which was about 45 min from LAX where we were staying. We got to Disneyland at around 7:15am, got perfect parking, and were one of the first to jump onto the tram to the park. I will now share some photos from our day. I took many, but I will just include my favorites!

Look who I saw! Except he was done taking pictures and signing autographs. For some reason, that side of Mickey has become a tradition visiting Disneyland. I always miss him there! ah!
